Established in 1863 by Ibrahim Sader, Sader Publishers was the first private bookstore in Lebanon. He contributed in the publishing of the first legal book in 1868.
After his decease, his son Youssef proceeded with the development of the printing press which released many worthy books for Great Amin Al Rihani.
In 1921 Youssef published the «Law Journal», first of its kind in the Arab world. He also was the first to implement the idea of law compendium in Lebanon and the arab countries.
In 1923 he managed to publish the first Lebanese legal encyclopedia in French which served as ultimate reference to the French authorities and both Lebanese and Syrian citizens at that stage.
In 1941 he founded the Sader – Rihani printing press in collaboration with Albert Al Rihani. Together they published a large number of books and magazines in Arabic and French amongst: Al Mahabba, Al Hekma, Nidaa Al Watan.
In 1950 he printed the Lebanese Official Gazette which became the ultimate reference for all laws and decisions taked by the Lebanese government.
In 1951 Youssef was awarded the Lebanese Golden medal of Merit, the Lebanese medal of Maaref, and the Syrian medal of Merit for all his efforts in the publishing sector.
In 1956, after the loss of his father Youssef, Adib continued the road, publishing many legal books along with the «Law journal».
He also created a modern indexation system for the Official Gazette which made it much easier for everyone to consult and refer to.
In 1970 he printed the Justice magazine (Al Adl) published by the Beirut BAR Association. Al Adl magazine is till printed till this very date by Sader Printing Press.
Adib also founded the Publishers’ Union Syndicate of which he was elected president.
In 1982, Joseph, Adib’s son, took things in charge after his father’s loss and published a large variety of legal books which contributed in the reputation of Sader Publishers as leading legal publishing house in the Arab region.
In 1985 Joseph published the “Prophet” by Gibran Khalil Gibran in a special Edition which received the grand prize award at the London international advertising award (Grand prize).
In 1991 he published the first law compendium based on the Lebanese State hierarchy: Lebanese Law Compendium new concept classified along the lines of the basic structure of the Lebanese government, the most renowned law reference of its kind.

In 1996 he established the first law research center in Lebanon and the Arab region associated to a legal publishing house «Sader Law Research Center», a modern research center that consists of many high ranked judges and lawyers and produces many publications, compendiums and software that are considered a trade mark of excellence.

In 2003 he established Sader Legal Publishing UAE, the sister company to Sader Publishers Lebanon, specialized in legal publishing. Joseph also launched the UAE law compendium the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates based on the State’s hierarchy.
In 2004 Joseph launched the E-library in the ministry of Justice first achievement of its kind in Lebanon and the Arab region, offering full access to local and international references and jurisprudence. He also launched the legal opinions of the Legislative and Consulting Body, in collaboration with the ministry of justice.
In 2005 Joseph Launched the Lebanese laws website, the first website featuring the main laws of Lebanon translated into English, in collaboration with the ministry of economy and trade and the union of the chambers of commerce industry and agriculture, and funded by USAID and AMIDEAST.
In 2006 he launched the State Council website and guide, considered as the gateway to all information about this governmental entity, achieved in collaboration with the Lebanese State Council in order to insure high efficiency and accuracy.
In 2007 Joseph signed an agreement with the UAE ministry of Justice to build and operate a specialized website and circulate legal publications.
This agreement is considered a huge step taken by the Ministry toward building a legal literacy in keeping with implementation of information technology, development and modernization. It involves E-publishing of the Federal court jurisdictions and international treaties approved by UAE government, in addition to a comprehensive guide for assisting litigants through procedures and requirements at the UAE courts, and many other issues.
The agreement also involves training of the UAE ministry of Justice personnel in the use of the portal and the development of their skills and abilities, bearing in mind that the seven-year agreement includes publishing of the UAE federal court jurisdictions within a hardcopy compendium, publishing of the UAE federal laws in both Arabic and English. The ministry intends to dispatch these compendiums to all judges and update them regularly.
